Administrators and school system personnel are working hard to make sure that a detailed plan is in place that makes our return to school for the 2020 - 2021 school year as seamless as possible. Comments (-1) University of Alabama in Huntsville K-12 Reading Program The University of Alabama in Huntsville K-12 Reading Program is offering live, teacher-led online classes. Classes are available now and throughout the summer, for Pre-K through 12 th grade students. These offerings are available at reduced rates and have been converted to a live online format. The goal is to help parents and schools maintain student education during these unusual times. According to the information we have received the curriculum is high caliber and has been taught in a live, online format for 5 years already with over 50,000 school-age students. The classes are led by highly-trained teachers with many years’ experience teaching effectively in online classrooms. Skills taught include: Early Elementary: letter recognition, phonemic awareness, sight words, phonics Mid-to-Late Elementary: fluency, phonics, long-word decoding, comprehension, textbook reading, writing Middle and High School: doubling reading speed, comprehension, writing, notetaking, test preparation, textbook strategies Additional information, cost, and registration can be found at the link below. Registration Information Comments (-1) CCPS Out-of-District Pre-Registration CCPS Out-of-District pre-registration for the 2020 - 2021 school year will begin May 4th at 9:00 a.m. This pre-registration process can continue as scheduled due to the fact that it is an online process. The online form used for pre-registration allows us to fill our available Out-of-Distric slots and notify those who will need to complete the full registration process. An Out-of-District pre-registration form will be available on the CCPS homepage beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4th. Cullman is located just east of the intersection of Interstate 65 and US Highway 278 about halfway between Huntsville and Birmingham. The city of Cullman has been selected by Bloomberg Businessweek as one of the best places in Alabama to raise children. Cullman has also been ranked the second highest micropolitan in the nation for the past two years, according to Site Selection Magazine. The school system has over 3,000 students in five schools. The schools are Cullman High School (Grades 9-12), Cullman Middle School (Grades 7-8), East Elementary School (Grades 2-6), West Elementary School (Grades 2-6), and Cullman City Primary School (Grades K-1).
